TROPIKAL 850 is an antifouling paint suitable for the protection of vessels against the adhesion of seaweed and shellfish. TROPIKAL 850 is ideal for plastic, wooden and steel vessels running at a speed lower than 35-50 miles/hour. No color modification occurs when the vessel is immersed in water. Contains new germicide ensuring longer protection of the vessel in water.

Preparation

Adequately prepare surface to obtain good results.
► New hull:
Wash the surface with a detergent and rinse with water. Remove any grease, salt deposits, etc. using a rag impregnated with White Spirit. Sand where necessary. Rinse with water and allow to dry. Apply 1-2 coats of primer UNI PRIMER (polyester surfaces), POLACRYL 301 or MARINE ΜΙΝΙΟ (wooden surfaces), X-RUST or MARINE ΜΙΝΙΟ (metal surfaces). For better adhesion of TROPIKAL 850, apply 1-2 coats of UNI PRIMER on any type of surface.
► Maintenance – already painted hulls:
Wash with water. Allow to dry. Remove old and weathered paints. If the old antifouling is not compatible with TROPIKAL 850, sand the surface and apply 1-2 coats of UNIPRIMER. In any case, apply 2 coats of TROPIKAL 850.

Use

Brush, roller or spray airless. Thin by 0-5% with W.S. Stir well before use. Do not apply when ambient temperature and surface temperature is below 5°C, above 30°C.

Drying out - coverage

Drying times are dependent on ambient temperature and film thickness. Touch dry: 1 hour. Recoat: 4-5 hours. Practical coverage: 4-8m2/kg depending on the thickness of each coat and the surface porosity. Put the vessel into the water 4-5 hours following application of TROPIKAL 850 and for better results, no later than 24 hours.
